The Latest Collection

My thesis collection explores Myanmar’s history, beginning in the 1880s with the start of British colonization. During this time, our last king was exiled, and a royal ruby—the Padamyar Ngamauk—was taken by a British agent and never returned. Inspired by this piece of history, I created a fictional narrative about a Burmese woman in her 30s who works as a British spy, quietly seeking to reclaim the lost gem. The collection imagines her wardrobe: a blend of 1940s British military silhouettes and traditional Burmese dress, reflecting both resistance and cultural identity.
