Khaing Zar Thwe

Khaing is an ethnically Chinese designer born and raised in Mandalay, Myanmar, whose creative journey led her to Paris, where she studied fashion for four years at Parsons Paris. Specializing in flou womenswear, she brings a refined, fluid aesthetic to her designs. While her focus lies in soft, elegant silhouettes, she also explores other materials and techniques, having worked with diverse mediums such as yarn and leather to expand her creative expression.

Leatherwork

Although Khaing primarily focuses on working with flou (flowy, soft fabrics), she has also explored other materials, including leather. She took a semester-long course specializing in leatherwork, during which she created several pieces—one of which is the harness shown here. Made from deadstock leather, the piece is inspired by the imagery of hands wrapping around the waist.

Knits and Crochets

In addition to that, she has also worked with knits and crochet, exploring different techniques and learning how to apply them effectively in her design process.
